The Igbo Festival, Naming Ceremony and Family Reunion 27-29 July 2018

April 12, 2018

Hello Family!

Come visit an authentic Igbo Village in Staunton, Virginia 27-29 July 2018.  The village was shipped from Nigeria and rebuilt in Virginia.  Meet the Igbo Royals, Igbo Associations and community from around the world.  This is our annual event for reconnecting with our culture and for the naming ceremony.  ALL ARE WELCOME to attend.  Take part in the naming ceremony.

Many of us are finding more DNA matches from our homeland.  In the midst of all that is happening, we remain hopeful that even more people will find great discoveries. It has been said that about 65% of African Americans have at least one Igbo ancestor.

In addition to all of the amazing festivities , DNA Tested African Descendants will receive their ancestral names.  The Point of Contact and Conductress for the Naming Ceremony is Naja Chinyere Njoku, the Founder of DNA Tested African Descendants.  She is an African American US Army Veteran of Igbo ancestry that learned her heritage through DNA testing.  She was able to find Igbo relatives through DNA testing.  She was received, by His Majesty Eze ChukwuEmeka Eri, back into the Eri Kingdom in Aguleri, Nigeria as Princess Chinyere Eri.  After about 400 years, she finally found the land of at least 7 of her ancestors.  She has worked tirelessly to assist others to learn about their ancestry and actually meet their African family members.  She also focuses on the naming ceremonies because they reconnect you back into our culture in our own language.   The ancestral names speak of our destiny and in our case, our accomplishments.

We will have a family meeting with His Majesty Eze Chukwuemeka Eri.  He wants to communicate with each one of us.  He called today from Nigeria and sends his greetings and blessing to us all.

REMINDER:

We encourage each of you to continue to research how you are related to your DA matches.  If you decide to meet them in person, meet in a safe public location alongside some of your peers, family and friends.  The reconnection is extremely important.  Make sure you are all comfortable with the environment that you meet in .  Enjoy yourselves!!!

Until next time...
